The barquentine ship "Loa" coming from Denmark. There is something to those sails, ay? Not to mention sails that are not white don't reflect as much sunlight, making them better target for photography :slow:

Gdynia, Tall Ships' Race.

Oh yeah. I think I captured mirage too... look on the horizon.

Piękny statek i... ciemne, niemal czarne żagle.

Stunning shot of a beautiful subject!

And yes, you've caught a mirage - if mirage is really the right word. I've seen that effect often - for a while we lived on an island, with a view of the mainland over 50km away - it often appeared to be floating in the air: [link]

I know how it's called in polish. In english dunno.
just super refraction?

It is similar to how mirages appear, but I think that yours, like mine, is in the opposite direction to desert mirages. Both are refraction - I don't think there's any need for the "super" bit! I suppose you could call it "differential refraction", because what's noticeable is the difference between the refraction very close to the surface of the water and a little higher up, but I've never heard anyone use that expression.

Here we call it: superrefrakcja terrestryczna. And accordingly: subrefrakcja terrestryczna for another distortion.

:) Yup, I can understand that! Maybe they are both called mirage in English, but I've only ever heard the word used for something seen above the horizon when it "ought" to be below it. In my shot, the tops of the mountains are seen pretty much where they "should" be, but there's sky underneath them lower than it should be - and I think it's the same in your picture.
